Circle of Security
Parenting

At times all parents feel lost or without a clue about what our child might need from us. Imagine what it might feel like if you were able to make sense of what your child was really asking from you. The Circle of Security Parenting™ program is based on decades of research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened.

Learning Objectives of the Program:

•   Understand your child’s emotional world by learning to read their emotional needs and cues

•   Support your child’s ability to successfully manage emotions

•   Enhance the development of your child's self esteem

•   Honor your innate wisdom and desire for your child to be secure

Upcoming Courses for 2022

15 August - Weekly for 8 Weeks at 7pm.
09 January - Weekly for 8 Weeks at 7pm.

Who can benefit from completing Circle of Security (COS-P)?

Circle of Security Parenting is helpful for almost all parents, specifically parents who are interested in:

  • Improving their skills in reading and understanding their child’s social and emotional needs

  • Increasing confidence to attend to their child’s behaviour concerns

  • Adopting a compassionate, no-blame approach that allows parents to feel supported, regardless of their personal and/or parenting history

  • An evidence-based program supported by over 30 years of research in attachment theory

What age should my child be for me to complete COS-P?

Circle of Security Parenting (COS-P) is designed for parents and carers of children of all ages.  Most of the video-based resources show children aged 0-6, however we have found that as our need for secure relationships remains throughout the lifespan, parents of children of all ages benefit from attending.

How is COS-P run?

Lively Lifestyles Psychology currently runs the group in an online format only. COS-P uses a format of watching copyrighted videos and then subsequent guided discussions and activities.

Unfortunately, COS-P sessions are unable to be recorded due to copyright and privacy reasons and therefore it is necessary to attend the sessions live.

Individual sessions can be arranged however they are typically offered at the clinicians usual hourly rate.

How can I register?

For individual sessions, please contact our friendly admin team to book in with a clinician.

For face-to-face group sessions, please contact our admin team to express your interest.

Our regular course dates for online groups are published above. If you would like to register, please email info@livelylifestylespsychology.com to indicate which course date you would like to join, and whether it will just be yourself or if a partner will join too.

How much does it cost?

The cost for our online COS-P groups is $50 per session (total $400 including GST) for the full 8-week course. Your partner is able to join in on the sessions for no extra cost. You may be able to get a rebate via your private health fund - contact us here if you require an itemised invoice. The full course cost must be paid up front and this is non-refundable once the course has commenced.

If you (and your partner) wish to receive a certificate of completion for the course, you must attend all of the 8 sessions.

Session fees for individual sessions vary, and are based on the clinician’s usual hourly rate.

Rebates may apply with a valid referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan, or through your private health fund.

NDIS participants may be able to use NDIS funding for COS-P, depending on whether this course is aligned with plan goals.

Should I bring my child/children along?

We ask that you attend without your children to promote optimal attention to the program material. For online sessions, it is best to have caregiving arrangements pre-organised for your children for the duration of the session.
